surrogacy: the journey | blairsville, pa photographer

I thought about it the whole way there…..trying to imagine what it might feel like. Thinking in my mind how my Mom had me when she was barely 16 and that (lets face it) I was an accident—or in other terms, an unplanned pregnancy, a surprise of sorts. THEN on the other end of the pregnancy spectrum,…

crystal - i’m in tears! i love every time you post something about this family. we struggled for years to get pregnant (we were only able to with the help of an anonymous donor), and through a turn of events i now “specialize” in birth photography. i’ve recently been toying with the idea of volunteering to be a surrogate/gestational carrier myself. I feel like I can relate to each part of the “triangle” — the parents who couldn’t conceive, (to an extent) the selfless woman carrying their baby, and the lucky observer of such a miracle.
Anyway, I LOVE this! Thanks to everyone involved for sharing. So inspiring! Best wishes to them all :)

Caroline - Jen, I think this is my favorite post of yours (although, they’re all wonderful). What an incredibly beautiful, extraordinary thing for everyone involved. Thank you and them for sharing, I look forward to seeing more.

Shannon Wilkinson - Jen,

I can’t tell you what emotions this story and images brought out in me. It took me twelve very long years of a journey through my own infertility nightmare before I was able to get pregnant and stay pregnant. We did not use a surrogate but we did use a donor to have our three miracle babies. I am thankful for those who selflessly give up time in their lives so that families such as the one in this story are able to have the one thing that they desire more than anything else…children. I will be watching for the ending/beginning to this amazing story.

SarahAnn Lewis - That is the coolest – and most beautiful – thing I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait for the rest of the story. :-)

Courtney - I have always, always wanted to be a surrogate. This is the coolest set of photos. Thank you and thanks to this family for sharing!

Melissa Zihlman - These are awesome! I’m totally in tears! What an amazing story…and equally amazing people. I cannot wait to watch this journey through your viewfinder in the coming months. Prayers for them all!

I know I’m a bit out of order with our vacation photos. I’m itching to share more with you -trust me, I have tons, but I thought these particular photos deserved their own blog. They are special…..very special! This one is going to be a long one…..go now and grab the tissues! Part of the…

Bev Schweigert - Jen, I couldn’t help but shed a tear when I read this story. The Kurnocik’s were a huge help to me when Becca was diagnosed with cancer. My family and friends were a huge support, but I wanted to talk to someone who had been through it, and they were wonderful. Tracey gave me information on working with the school while Becca was going through her surgeries and even recommended her for Make A Wish. My thoughts and prayers are with the Kurnocik’s always.

Aimee - Jen, these pictures were truly amazing. I had chills the entire time. I, too, was a close friend of Jessica’s and it means more than you will ever know that you captured this moment for all of us to see. This family has shown so much love, dedication, and strength through the years and I am witness to what wonderful people Jessie and her family are. Thank you again for sharing this and what a wonderful write up you had as well.

Autumn - Jen, this post took my breath away. I was close friends with Jessica and this post captured something really amazing and beautiful. Jessica was inspirational and a beautiful person inside and out as is her family. Thank you for sharing this!

Let me start off by saying…..WOW!! I knew I would have a decent amount of entries for the Prom Paparazzi Contest-I typically do when I run any type of contest/give away, but I had no idea I’d get the response I got when running THIS contest and get such a wide spectrum of absolutely talented…
