Imaging USA in Nashville | Professional Photographers of America Conference

I know I’ve said it a million times…and I’ll probably say it a MILLION more times…but you have no idea how grateful I am for the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met because of my camera! Growing up, dreaming big sometimes seemed so out of reach. I was surrounded by a social class that didn’t dare dream BIG because it only led them to disappointment. I was sort of trained in an unspoken way that it was wrong to WANT bigger…to WANT better and that it meant I was selfish. If you’re from the same background as me, you’d totally “get it”. It’s hard for some people to comprehend. It’s one of those unspoken rules of poverty-only greedy people want to be successful…and *IF* you’ve reached a level of success, it was because you obviously clawed your way to the top, stepping on those under you! HOLY CRAP was that wrong! It’s SOO SOO wrong…and I’m so glad that I chose to ignore those voices that were in my head! I have found some of my best relationships because I strived to be more!

Ok, I get it, that’s deep…but I’d be lying to do you if those very thoughts don’t cross my mind EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. I get the opportunity to experience something I never have before. It’s engrained in me…and sometimes I get the chills when I think about it. Like standing at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, walking down the streets of Beverly Hillsexperiencing ancient villages in Mexico…you get the idea-it was all possible because I didn’t listen to the unspoken rules of my social class! I’ve gotten to see the world thru my camera…BECAUSE of my camera! So you can imagine my excitement when I get to go to a conference surrounded by other creative and supportive photographers *IN* a city I’ve never been………because we’re all there to strive to be something more!

I wanted to share with you a little bit of the “behind the scenes” shenanigans while I was away at the conference. If you follow me on instagram, you may have already seen some of these. And yes, while it appears that it was “all fun”, I do assure you that-Yes,I went to classes-Yes, I learned TONS of new information (that I’ve already started to implement)-Yes, I found lots of new products to start offering for my AMAZING clients (that’s a whole other blog post)-and YES YES YES, I had fun! haha! I mean, come’on, do you really think I wasn’t going to go out and explore?! Pshhh

These are all iphone photos-my camera was being cleaned! In no particular order….
