ireland day 7: bunratty + cliffs of moher | southwestern, pa photographer | travel

Day 7 was bitter sweet-the last day in Ireland (sniffle sniffle). I knew we would be heading home to see Miss Mallory whom we missed tremendously, but we were leaving behind so many amazing things that we got to see, do and experience. To date, this has to be one of the BEST traveling experiences that I’ve had so far. We’re already talking about our next trip….ohh the ideas are a churning!

I have to say that because we went at the end of October, it had it’s draw backs but it absolutely had it’s advantages. One disadvantage was that with daylight savings time, we had less day light to explore which often cut our exploring short each night, but in my opinion, it forced us to slow down and get to know the locals in the evenings. Also, it was off peak session so there weren’t a tremendous amount of crowds ANYWHERE we went, we didn’t have to fight with other tourists which means, less people in the background of my photos! haha!

As I sit here and type about what we actually saw, I’m still in awe that I got to even take this trip. It just started with an idea between two friends and before you know it we were gallivanting around Ireland. I will never forget this trip or all the hard work that went into making it come to fruition. While we happened across several travelers our age, they were on “holiday” thanks to Mommy and Daddy…and us..well WE were on “holiday” because of our own hard work…and there is nothing that feels better than that.

As we stood on the Cliffs of Moher, walked through the Bunratty Castle, scaled the cliffs of the Burren, left behind from glaciers and hung out over the edge with the waves crashing below and visited an ancient burial ground, Poulnabrone Dolmen dating back to 2, 500 b.c. AND made our way to Galloway to find a clauda ring….I feel so insanely blessed. The fact that we started out on a trip with NO plan and with only suggestions from YOU and the locals, NO GPS-only the good old fashion map and a joy for traveling….I’ve had one of the MOST amazing experiences EVER!! That being said, if you are planning a trip to Dublin anytime soon, you can find some wonderful tour ideas on the Dublin Tour Company website. After the sun set on our last day and we drove back to the last bed and breakfast for the stay, the ride was quite. We all starred out the window reflecting on everything we saw, all the laughs we had and how grateful we were.

I know you’re a wedding photographer but you should seriously publish a coffee table book of your vacation photos! They’re amazingly beautiful!
