I won’t lie, my blog post is late this evening because I spent entirely too much time in the pool today…I know, I know, don’t feel bad!

My favorite kinds of family pictures of the ones with lots of chaos going on. Why? Because they are real! I like when Mom is looking at her son with the “what the heck are you doing face”, or when the itty bitty grandchild is making a funny face in the background, or when sisters and brothers are poking each other in the side, when baby brother is smiling crooked all the while Grandma is in the front row being the ONLY person looking directly into the camera! THOSE are my favorite!! You can’t help but laugh when you look at them and yet you can see everyone’s manorisms just by a glance. Unposed, chaotic……….imperfectly PERFECT!!

THIS family……OMG, my sides hurt when I left. I’ve known Sarah since our days in grade school at big bad Burrell Elementary School. I vividly remember it always being a hoot when she was around…..and 15 plus years later…nothing has changed. Their entire family is just one big sitcom….and I felt right at home! Can I be your adopted sister please because I just KNOWWWWW holidays are interesting at YOUR house!!!

In Sarah’s initial email to me, she mentioned how important it was for her to get a family photo that included her grandparents. I was honored to get to meet “Great” Grandma while I was there. Sarah’s other Grandma had since had some medical issues which prevented her from being at the shoot not long after she messaged me. It makes my heart sing to see people who value their family while they are still with us and by doing an extended family shoot, you are able to include EVERYONE! Some of my most cherished photographs are of my Grandparents and I still smile when I look at them today. Typically when I do “extended” family shoots, it can be difficult to do “mini family shoots” with everyone -especially if there are itty bitty’s involved, but we managed to get some cute ones of everyone…..and some hilarious ones to boot!

We shot these at the worse part of the day, when the sun was straight over us, so we found refuge in the shade-not to mention it was ONLY 90 degrees that day…no big deal!!!  Thank you guys for spending a few hours with me on Memorial Day. Sarah, I can’t wait to meet your other Grandma…….and if laugher is the best medicine…with YOUR family, she is going to be well in NO TIME!!!

I’ll shoot you an email when I’m finished with the rest!!! Until then, here are a few more to hold you over! 🙂

How sweet is she??!!
