ahhhh, day 6-my turn to drive…LOOK OUT!! I only tried to drive on the wrong side …a few times! But you know what makes you learn REAL QUICK….when a car is coming for you head on..THAT’LL make you learn real quick! LOL
It was my turn to drive but it was also some of the windiest and most narrow roads EVERRR…but hey, just let the girl who falls down the castle steps drive..no big deal!! LOL We got up bright and early again to make it to the Dingle Peninsula. If I were to sum up the day it would be “rainbows and windy roads”. Rainbows were EVERYWHERE…..and no we never found the pot of gold! BUT we did find some other treasures. We stopped at Inch Beach where Erin found berries….get it, she found berries in Dingle….seriously, how can you NOT laugh!! LOL We spent some time there collecting shells and watching the sun try to peek out from behind the rain clouds…it was simply beautiful and majestic-there’s really no other way to describe it!
As we made it further down the peninsula we ran into a few sheep crossings, drove down the “ever so famous” cliff roads around the Slea Head Drive and fed the seagulls. Our bed and breakfast hosts had also told us about this place called “Gallarus Oratory Church” and after hearing that it was built between the 6th and 9th century, Greg and Jereme HAD to check it out. It’s AWESOME if you really think about it, that something THAT old is still in it’s orginal condition. It’s shaped like an upturned boat and they used corbel vaulting, a technique developed by Neolithic tomb-makers. Whether your into history or not…you can’t help but be in awe of it…..as if there wasn’t enough in Ireland to be in awe of! 🙂
Later in the evening, and after our drive thru the peninsula, we decided to TRY to make it to the Rock of Cashel. I’m happy to say, we made it there, but I’m sad to say due the seasonal change in their schedule, we weren’t able to go inside. I was bummed, but considering all the other things we got to see while we were there, I really couldn’t complain. BUT we did get to hang around the outside and admire it from afar!
Day 7 is coming up. Our last day in Ireland…how did we spend it? Bunratty Castle, Cliffs of Moher and Galloway …. 🙂
…this first photo is the fella from our bed and breakfast, he’s a retired geography teacher, he gave us some GREAT tips!!…LOVE HIM!!

Oh! Now I am ‘homesick.’ Wonderful photos of ‘The Rock.’ Did you spot the ‘Devil’s Bit?’ The huge gap in the mountains to the north of Cashel?
STUNNING pics, Jen. CANNOT WAIT to see the pics of the Cliffs of Moher!!! =D
Hey Jen!
I just stumbled on your blog! Great photos! I went to Ireland in 2009 and it looks like we did some of the same things! Dingle is better than the Ring of Kerry!
Owen…I thinkI agree with you! I enjoyed Dingle much better than the Ring of Kerry!
