There’s a common thread between all the sessions I shoot, the one factor that everyone tends to stress out about, get nervous about and perhaps even prevents some of you from having your portraits done…. it’s the little voice inside of you saying, “I don’t know how to pose.”
Trust me when I say, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And I get it! Recently, I was on the other side of the camera with all the same thoughts running through MY head. What if I look stupid, I have no idea what I’m doing! Been there…done that and it wasn’t until a recent session I had that made me want to write this blog.
So you don’t know how to pose? You have no idea what you are doing? AWESOME, you’re not supposed to….because that’s MY job as your photographer! I hate to even call it a pose because when I think of the word “pose”, I think of the champagne glass background with your chin on your hand and a rose coming out of your mouth….CHEESY!!
Everyone wants to take the “photojournalistic” approach to their photography and I get that too…but the truth is when it comes to portraits, people need direction. It’s your photographers job to direct you…so stop stressin and make some memories!
