rustic + snowy engagement session | jen mcken, photographer

I didn’t tell them this…..but I get SUPER nervous when people travel out of state to have me shoot their session. True story….I’ve been doing this for more than 10 years and I still get super nervous. Greg tells me that it’s cute, but I think it’s annoying.

This is Jackie and Carl! They both currently live in Florida so needless to say, traveling back to the cold weather is exactly the opposite of what us North Eastern people do! We’re usually running for the warmer areas…but they had a check list of things to get accomplished while they were back. Meeting with their venue (The Mansion at Maple Heights, Pittsburgh PA), visiting family AND having their engagement photos taken. She told me she wanted wintery photos and somewhat rustic……I had the perfect place to take her. They actually lived in a small family cabin for some time before moving to Florida and the laid back, private lifestyle is “them”.

It turns out that her Dad actually grew up in the same town as me….so it was fun getting to chat about some of the same people we knew. Such a small world! Sometimes, I’m amazed that this is my job! <3

Jackie, what do you think? Did we nail the snowy and rustic thing you were going for?! <3

“We work hard, so we are very laid back when we are together. We really like to stay in and cook dinner and just hang out.”- Jackie

One of my favorites!

RAWR!

WERK IT CARL!!! tee he he  (I’ll keep “the word” a secret!) Hey…whatever gets them to laugh! MUAH HA HA HA!

By this time, it was so cold…..but you can’t even tell! I told you it would be worth it! They were such great sports!

I can not WAIT till their wedding. If their bridal party is even half as fun as these guys….it’s going to be “offf the hiz-ook!  (yep, I just said that! haha) It will also be much warmer………..September will be here faster than we think! And Dad if you’re reading this, tell me the next time you’re down at the IC and I’ll come have a beer with ya! <3 Us Blairsvillians must stick together! haha!
