I typed the address into the GPS and it told me I would be there around 12:30…..and it did get me there at exactly 12:30…except when my “destination had been reached” it was a field and lots and lots of trees….no farm anywhere to be found. No problem, I have my hand dandy cell phone, I’ll call her and be on my way. Yeah….well when you live in small town USA where your neighbors are cows and horses, your cell phone reception isn’t the greatest…and in my case, it was completely NON-existent! So I back tracked to the small little store in Smicksburg, PA– (Amish Country for those of you who aren’t familiar) and two kind people were trying to help my lost self out! I chuckled when they asked me what her parents names were, because if I knew their names they could tell me exactly where they lived..that’s how I knew I was in a small town! It turns out the GPS had me 5 or so miles away and after finally being able to reach Lauren via the store’s phone and those kind people from the store helping a sista out- I found them…and I was on my way! Turns out it was REALLY easy to get to….but my darn GPS failed me. Me and “Betty” (I named my GPS) had a talk on the way home..and those Amish guys probably laughed at me when I left. Damn technology, who needs it anyways! haha!! Small town life…where everyone knows you by name! It was the first time I had ever been given directions based on someone last name! That was pretty cool! You city folks just wouldn’t get it! haha!
These were all taken on Lauren’s Grandfather’s property! She spent LOTS of time here growing up so it was the PERFECT spot to shoot! I love when locations “MEAN SOMETHING”! I can imagine her telling her Grandchildren one day, THIS is the spot where I use to run and play! 🙂
Tell us a little bit about the proposal!
“He popped the question in front of my whole family on Christmas Eve during my family’s gift exchange. My ring was in a gift bag that was a part of the gift exchange and about 4-5 of my family members knew about it. They strategically made sure I got that certain bag and when I opened the bag, and then the box, Zac stole it out of my hand and got down on one knee and proposed! I had NO clue it was coming. It couldn’t have been planned out any better.”- Lauren
“Zac claims I fell for him, but I remember it differently 🙂 I think it was kind of mutual. “- Lauren
“Zac thinks he can walk a mile backwards in under 15 minutes.
Zac went to Pitt and Clarion to school.
I went to Clarion and Duquesne.
I played college softball at Clarion” – Lauren
They were so comfortable with each other it was so easy to photograph them! Seriously, aren’t they ADORABLE!!??
“Zac said “I love you” first!! It was Valentine’s Day 2011 at my college house. He stopped by at like 7AM before I went to class and brought me chocolate covered strawberries and roses and told me he loved me! I will never forget it!” – Lauren
Zac and Lauren, I can not wait to photograph you guys this fall…thank you so much for hanging out with me AND for saving me when I was lost! haha!!! <3 And good old Betty got me home with out getting me lost! haha!
