Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy shooting urban/city shoots because it’s nice to switch it up a bit creatively…….but my roots are from a small town where I grew up building cabins in the woods, catching cray fish in the creeks and spending endless hours exploring the great outdoors….so shoots like this have my heart!!
If you’ve been there yourself, you KNOWWWW how gorgeous it is in person! Imagine waterfall after waterfall after waterfall! We drove over 3 hours and THEN hiked close to 6 miles total to get these shots…and it was so worth it! Needless to say, I totally hit my 10 thousand steps that day! haha! Genna always dreamed of having her engagement photo taken at Ricketts Glen...so that’s exactly what we did! It took an entire day to capture these (and many more) but we ended up with some beautiful images. She spent lots of time here as a child and memories of this place are among some of the memories she holds dear to her heart! I love that we went somewhere that MEANS something! <3
For those of you wondering where the heck is this gorgeous place….according to their website: “Ricketts Glen harbors Glens Natural Area, a National Natural Landmark. Hike the Falls Trail System and explore the Glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient hillside. The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of 22 named waterfalls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the beauty. Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,050 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan and Columbia counties.”
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect time to go. We chose a weekday that JUST HAPPENED to be their anniversary-which makes these images even more special! Because it was a weekday, we didn’t have to fight as many crowds but there was no shortage of photographers who travel from all over the world to photograph these falls.

It was the perfect amount of green and the perfect amount of color from the leaves changing for fall! It was absolutely perfect!
I mean, look at the blanket of orange leaves…..
Nature sure is beautiful!
I get to photograph their wedding next year at The Oak Lodge-one of my favorite places! It’s also outdoor and rustic…I see a theme here!
She seriously went ANYWHERE I asked her! I should mention, while I hiked this is workout clothes and tennis shoes, they hiked the entire way in dress shoes and logistically planned out meeting spots for family to meet up for a wardrobe change….you know since carrying clothes thru the forest would be weird! Tee he he!
I can’t wait to come back and hike with my family!

I love the two above shots….two of my fav’s from the day!
Just a little bling in the woods!

….and because I had to get in front of the camera (cell phone camera) during the 6 mile hike with a good 30-40 pounds of equipment! I sure got my workout that day!!
You know, just another day in the office! tee he he
Genna and Adam, you were AWESOME-SAUCE!!!! Thank you for taking to me such amazing locations…this will go down in the books as one of my favorite shoots!
