Thinking back to my own childhood, there are so many little memories I have spending time with my Grandparents at what I like to call the “stone castle”. It really was just a house that my Grandfather built with his own hands back into the wooded property in the middle of now where. The driveway was long, there was a pond, a stone out-building that was an old ice house and the home itself was made of field stone he had gathered from around the property.
It was a labor of love and as a little girl it felt SO BIG. I think that’s why I always called it a castle. I’d often spend weekends there with my cousin and we’d bake bread on Grandma’s old stove, play in the pond throwing bread to the fish, play with them in the woods, watch our favorite movies “Stand by Me” , “Flowers in the Attic” and “Rodger Rabbit” and I remember very vividly petting kittens on their front porch chairs. I wish I had photos of that like that ones I took below. I would give anything to have images of those memories.
When their Mom contacted me and said she’d be home from out of town and she’d love to get photos of her kids at the pool with their Grandparents….I gobbled that up!! I hope they look at these images one day and have the most amazing memories because sometimes when the details fade from our minds, they’ll have these. <3
I believe that the older the images gets, the more valuable it becomes!
