For most of my childhood, I had all of my Grandparents alive and well. As a matter of fact, for quite some time we had 5 generations alive and well in our family….and I got the experience all the “Grandma and Grandpa” things that some of my friends weren’t able to experience because their grandparents weren’t still with us. And trust me, I never took it for granted. I treasured the time I had with them because I knew it was limited. Things like trips to Niagara Falls, overnights at their house and the late night trips to Dunkin Donuts to name a few. My Grandfather passed away just a few years ago and I miss our breakfast dates when he’d call with a 2 minute heads up that he was coming to get me and take me to eat. It always came at the most inconvenient times but I always dropped whatever I was doing-no matter how busy I was- and I went. I treasure those memories more today than I ever thought I would.
Levi and my Grandma (his Great Grandma) have the most precious bond and I know that he’s too young to really treasure or value it but I’m determined to document it so that one day, he can look at those images and know just how much he was loved….
…and this is why I love THIS shoot with baby Rhett.
When Mom reached out and said she wanted to incorporate the Grandparents in, I said: “Sign me up!” Not only did she want to incorporate the Grandparents but she wanted the locations to be in their homes where the backgrounds of the images MEAN something. These are the types of shoots that made me want to be a photographer and make my heart so happy. THIS is why photography is so important-the images are worth far more than the paper they are printed on.
I want to do more of these. These images will be worth more than they will ever know one day!
