Returning to Her Roots for a Maternity Session
They say you can’t go home again… but sometimes, you can and it’s even sweeter when you’re carrying a new little life with you.
This maternity session wasn’t just beautiful, it was personal. This was rooted in meaning. And that’s exactly what I strive for with every session, images that feel like you, not just look pretty on a feed.We shot it on the very farm where this mama-to-be grew up, where she once helped raise ponies (including the one who made a cameo in these photos!), and where her story began long before wedding bells and baby showers.
Her family surprised her with this session while she was home visiting for her baby shower, and I couldn’t have been more honored to photograph yet another chapter in her life. (I photographed her wedding out of state, her first look with her sweet Pap, so to now shoot her maternity session in the place she once called home? Full circle moment right there.)
Whether it’s a family farm, your grandma’s porch, or the swing set where your own childhood began, the places that shaped you deserve to be part of the story you’re telling your children. This session was a perfect reminder of how powerful it is to go back to where it all began—especially when you’re about to start a whole new chapter.

Can we talk about this mama’s family for a second? They planned this surprise shoot for her while she was home for her shower, and it was the most thoughtful gift ever. They eventually had to spill the beans..haha! But, they also gave her something that will live way beyond baby onesies and registry items…memories. Photos that her child will one day look at and say, “That’s the pony you used to ride? And that’s the farm where you grew up?”
