A Moody Little Studio Experiment

Every once in a while, I just need to play.

I recently bought some new lights and instead of overthinking them, I decided to experiment and see what felt fun. No big plan. No pressure. Just good music, moody light, and a little curiosity.

This shoot started with a loose speakeasy-inspired vibe…warm lamps, low light, and that quiet, confident after-hours feeling. Was it meant to be historically accurate? Nope. Was it meant to be interesting? Absolutely.

I played with shadows, let the light fall where it wanted, and focused more on mood than perfection. Some images feel bold, some feel soft, and some just feel like a moment you walked in on.

Sessions like this are how I stay inspired and keep my work evolving. What I experiment with here always finds its way into my senior, branding, and women’s sessions, sometimes in obvious ways, sometimes subtly.

Sometimes the best ideas come from turning the lights down and seeing what happens.

Lots of laughs were had regardless! haha!
