Because I LOOOOVE engagement stories, I always ask. How did you meet? In Crystie’s words she writes about it. It goes a little something like this:

“Well, we were going to NYC for the weekend. My brother and fam lives on Long Island and we were going to visit them for the weekend so we designated a day for the city. We had our day kind of planned…just b/c Dave has never been there and i wanted to show him as much as possible so i was trying to be strategic…who am i kidding, im a huge planner regardless! So, our first stop off of the train was to be the Empire State Bldg. (REMEMBER THAT!) however, my mom called to tell us that Rascal Flatts was at Rockefellar Center performing. My absolute favorite country band btw! So, we are about 30 blocks away and i decide that we are going to haul ass and go see them. Of course we get there just as they are tearing down! : ( So, we decided to just wing it for the rest of the day.

We headed to central park and took a horse and buggy ride thru the park…very romantic! Dave was VERY fidgety ALL day especially on the ride. He actually had gotten down on his knee sort of and tied his shoe…..he was acting very weird. The day continued and we saw all sorts of things and ate all sorts of yummy food and did some shopping…..it was a great day…..had a few adult beverages too! : ) So, it was getting to be late afternoon at this time and we wanted to be sure to see the Empire State Bldg and grab dinner before we needed to board our sailboat for the moonlight cruise along the Hudson River. So, we head on over to the Empire State Bldg. I asked Dave before we went in if he needed to use the restroom b/c there are none until you go thru the lines. He said he was good so in we go. Just as we begin to enter security he looks at me and say “i have to go the bathroom” I was thinking to myself “did I not just ask you this minutes ago…urgh!” So, we go ALL the way back downstairs and he goes to the bathroom. Comes out and keeps apologizing and asking if I was mad….I kept saying “no honey, just tired of walking” next thing you know he taps me on the shoulder and I turn around and there he is down on one knee in this huge ballroom overlooking the city!!! I immediately began crying…..don’t recall a thing he said! We had a HUGE audience and everyone began clapping!

WELL, he really didn’t need to go the bathroom…he freaked out b/c he didn’t know there was security and he would have had to take the ring out of his pocket and i would have seen it. Haha!!! He actually had it all planned to do on the sailboat ride and ordered champagne…just imagine if we would have done the empire state bldg first thing in the morning like we had planned!!! Funny aside…..he told me after that he almost did it on the carriage ride….just didn’t want to wait but he convinced himself to do it as planned!! “

Which brings us to today. I give you….the portraits. All of the photos below were taken on Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s (IUP) campus. It’s where I did my undergraduate studies and it’s where Dave works. 🙂 It had been raining (HARD) all day prior to the shoot, then all of a sudden it stopped. We hurried there and back without a single rain drop-it was just meant to be!! 🙂
