Each wedding I shoot, I spend a tremendous amount of time with the Bride. I see the anticipation on her face, I watch the body language and I witness the excitement in her face and hear it in her voice right before she walks down the isle. I’m all too familiar with the nerves and all the feelings that come along with the long walk down the isle to meet her soul mate. Sure, I spend time with the guys before the ceremony, but often the guys are better at hiding their butterflies or gitters than the gals. Katie told me a while back that Ryan just happens to be a golfer and he JUST HAPPENS to have a very successful blog called Waggle Room (www.waggleroom.com) dedicated to….wait for it….wait for it…..GOLF!!! 🙂 With that said, I did a little blog stalking myself after the wedding and I came across *this* I think I smiled the whole way through his post. I’ll be honest, I’m not a golfer (GASP) nor do I fully understand 100% of the game, but it wasn’t necessarily the golf that kept my attention…it was the fact that I was getting to witness HIS anticipation. Cue the “AWWW’s” 🙂 I walked into the tiny room at the church where the guys were being sequestered and without meeting him before, he reached his hand right out and introduced himself AND he gave a nice firm handshake (yes I was paying attention lol) His smile was contagious. 🙂
Later in the day, after the ceremony and after the portraits were taken, the bridal party was hanging out in the Lobby at Chestnut Ridge (WOO HOO Chestnut) and I asked him a simple question. “Tell me about the list” While photographing the details (sooo many awesome details) upstairs in the ball room I found a framed, hand written list. His face lit up as he told me the story. Many years ago, he had made a list of all the qualities he was looking for in the woman he would someday call his wife. Long story short……today they became husband and wife! 🙂
Yes, it rained on their wedding day and no they didn’t let it get to them. Actually speaking of rain…it rained literally, but it also rained tears of joy and it rained money at the reception!! 🙂 I’d venture to say it was the “unofficial” theme of the night!! 🙂 The “Official” theme was a Love Stories. So much thought went into the details of their day. Just to name a few, they had stacks of books as the center pieces of each table. They created titles to the books based on experiences the two of them shared together. Also, they had constructed a bookshelf out of Ryan’s childhood headboard and that was the card box, they also listed the guests table in the form of a “Table of Contents” so that the guests could find their tables. There was so much creativity put into everything for the day. I’d be here forever just describing everything. My favorite of everything were the rings. I wish I would have gotten the website but they are exactly like *these ones*. A kit was sent to them and they were able to send finger prints into the person who created these for them. Katie’s finger prints are inscribed on the ring Ryan will wear and vice versa. Clever Clever Clever.
Ok, onto the photos. I’ll be working on the rest of these while your Honeymooning in Mexico. Have a margarita for me! I’m honored to have shared this day with you!! PS: your parents were pretty cool too….just like the lists says!! 🙂
