Pivotal Moments

Richard Coy :-)

I worked for the newspaper for 8 years. During those years, I’ve met some pretty interesting people…one whom was Richard Coy. I’m not sure if he remembers, but the first time I think I met him was at a festival at the Red Barn Sportsman’s Club was having in Homer City. He had a booth set up with his images, I was covering the festival for the newspaper so I stopped by his booth to say hello. That was when he was “FIRST” starting out….I believe even before he got his digital camera 🙂 I could tell he had a good heart and a passion for his work.

Flash forward a year or so and I’d see him here or there at the sporting events I was covering-high school baseball, football, etc. We quickly became friends and I’d give him some pointers here or there. Now, he’s one of my favorites…tee he he. His interest in photography started when he was a young child but it blossomed later in life during his retirement years. We found out later that he actually worked for years with my grandfather at the same place of employment…so the world is a much smaller place than I had thought.

Just recently, he has became one of the “artists” in the Artists  Hand Gallery. In the words of their Facebook Fan Page: “The Artists Hand Gallery is part of a partnership between Brian Jones and the Indiana Arts Council.  As President of the Indiana Arts Council and having been part of its strategic planning process, Brian has become the spark that has helped to ignite the arts in this small, Western Pennsylvania community.”

You can read Richard’s profile here.  https://theartistshand.org/artists.htm I’m honored to have been mentioned in his bio, but what he doesn’t know is that HE inspires ME! I love how eager and enthusiastic he is about photography. He says, “There is no end to what you can do when you put your mind to it” I think he is a great example!! 🙂 You should be very proud of yourself, I know I am 🙂

If you’re interested in going out to see his stuff or any of the other talented artists, they will be having a free viewing of every one’s work on, Friday, June 11th at the Atrium on Philadelphia Street in Indiana, PA. That night is free parking uptown.
