I forget sometimes what it’s like to be on the “OTHER” side of the camera. Here I am pointing a lens at my clients snapping away forgetting how vulnerable, self cautious or down right uncomfortable that may be. So every once in a while it’s nice to get on the other side just to remember. The past few days Mallory and I have been having some “camera fun” with the remote trigger. This nifty little device that lets you set up your camera, get in front of it, push a button and it takes the photo for you. I’ve had this remote trigger forever, but now that the season is beginning to slow down I ACTUALLY have time to play with it.
One of my goals for the blog this up and coming year is to add more of “me”, not necessarily photos but more of my personality. I believe you not only hire a photographer based on the kinds of photos they produce but also because of their personality. I certainly don’t want to take on a client that has no sense of humor…because well, they might be a TEENSY bit disappointed when I start cracking my jokes. I want the ” down to earth, laughs at their own jokes—-EVEN when they aren’t that funny, can have a good time anywhere as long as there’s wine and chocolate”, kinda client. The kind of client who…yes….has a bad hair day , likes to wear comfy clothes around the house but loves to look HAWT when going out with the ladies, the kind person who would rather not..but still be able to go to the grocery store without any *gasp* makeup on, the kind of person who eats Rice Crispy’s and still listens for Snap, Crackle and Pop, the kind of client who still has a pair of your jeans from high school because you swear one day you’ll fit back into them, the kind of person who under any circumstance and despite ANY flaws, can hold their shoulders back, their head high- bad hair and all and say, “I’m beautiful”…
So here we go…….bad hair day and all.
