stephen + shelley: getting ready for the first look

“We are both from Blairsville but never actually knew each other in high school. I’m robbing the cradle because Steve is 3 years younger and was a freshman when I was a senior in high school. During the Blairsville Alumni game, my Dad was talking to Steve’s mom as they watched the game. He mentioned I was in State College and she said that Steve was also here. I wasn’t actually at the Alumni game but I got a phone call the next day from my Dad saying that I should hang out with Steve Wilk. I told him I wasn’t interested because I knew Steve was younger than me. Then the next day my Dad called again and started talking about Steve. He told me he was very smart, had a good job in State College, and ‘wasn’t a bad looking kid.’ Now this was very weird to hear from my Dad because he has absolutely positively never tried to hook me up with anyone in the past. He actually remembered Steve from when he used to coach baseball and he coached Steve one year. He said Steve was always so respectful and was a really good guy. So, I did what any daughter would do and completely ignored my Dad and didn’t try to contact Steve. ” – Shelley

“A few months later I got a, *gasp,* friendship request from Steve on Facebook. I friended him, saw when he graduated high school, and quickly wrote him off for being so young. We still didn’t talk for another month or two until Thanksgiving Eve. It was towards the end of the night and I was talking with Jen Csyani, Larissa, and my sister in law about my bad dating life when Steve walked in. He had big muscles…and a Mohawk. Yes, a Mohawk. He happened to be super cute though so of course we swarmed in on him. Jen Csyani introduced us because she graduated with him. Later in the night he asked my brother, Kevin, if he could ask me for my number, which I thought was really cute and respectful. I agreed to hang out with him after we got back to State College. The rest is history. (And it only took me about a month to convince him to grow out the Mohawk before I had to introduce him to Grandma) ” – Shelley
