Lifestyle Newborn Photography | In-Home Sessions

Things I typically tell my newborn clients (in a nutshell):

  1. The best time to take newborn photos (because they sleep a lot and do not really move) is before the two week mark….. *IF* you are wanting those little scrunched/curled up posed baby shots! After two weeks they tend to want to stretch a little more and aren’t as easily posed into those cute little poses.
  2. If possible schedule your session around time when baby is usually most sleepy. We want him or her to sleep as much as possible during our shoot so that they will relax and curl into those cute newborn poses.

BUT……What if a session is scheduled after that 2 week mark or if  baby won’t sleep?? Well, you still get amazing images like these!

Meet baby Harris! He was a little over 2 weeks when these photos were taken and he was NOT gonna have a nap of any kind! haha! The awesome thing is, they had already scheduled a newborn LIFESTYLE session anyways so we rolled with it and he got lots of Mommy and Daddy cuddles.

One benefit to an in home session (which tend to be my favorite) is this:  imagine it’s 30 years from now and you look back at these photos… everything in the background of the photo is yours. That little nicknack in the background probably has a story, that blanket was given to you by grandma, the photos hanging on the wall, can you even believe you did your hair like that?! It’s like time travel but instead of some random props, it’s YOUR stuff, your nursery….it has so much more meaning!

Oh, you want me to sleep? NOPE!

Don’t let him fool you….he tricked us! haha!

Doesn’t this just make your heart melt!

Oh baby Harris you are already stealing the show!! haha!

Just for the record, I think he looks just like his Daddy! Which sucks to hear (trust me) when you carried the child 9 months, went thru all the body changing experiences and then they STILL look like their father! HAHAAHAH!

Could that be a baby smile??

Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and letting me cuddle little man! I have a feeling he’s going to be living his best life!!! <3
