I caught up with a long time client of mine earlier today. It’s been a hot minute since she filled me in on what was going on in her life when she broke down. She told me she feels like no one she is close to is clapping. And MAN, did I feel THAT in my soul…..
I often find myself smiling as I’m scrolling thru social media. I’ve been doing this whole photography gig for long enough that I’ve watched many of you go thru all the different stages of your lives. Graduating high school, getting engaged, planning weddings, growing your families, starting businesses, careers, etc., etc., and I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited into and honored to document of some of the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT parts of your lives. I don’t take that lightly…as a matter of fact, I find myself smiling at your posts-and sure, I know that most people only post their highlights on social media-but I want you to know that even though I’m not able to “like, heart or comment” on everyone’s post….I’m cheering for you! Ohhh, am I cheering for you! #GoLittleRockStars
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, is that some of your biggest cheerleaders and supporters are complete strangers. They’ll cheer for you from near and far and want to see you do well, all the while some of the people closest to you won’t even clap.There’s this saying, “You need to sift through the dirt to find the gold!” It can relate to so many aspects of life: friendships, relationships, etc. etc., And I promise, eventually, with your hands all muddy and dirt under your nails, you’ll find like minded people who support you…. but in the meantime, clap.for.your.damn.self.
Get clear on what YOU want and when those results show up for you- it won’t matter if there’s total silence or rapturous standing ovations from elsewhere. That feeling in your heart and your tummy will ring so much louder than any round of applause ever could. Trust me….I know.
So just like the Tik Tok trend…..Go Little Rock Stars! I’ll be over here cheering for you!
And read this carefully….you will NEVER be criticized by someone doing more than you…it’s always by someone who settled for less! Remember that. Now go do the damn thing and get your hands muddy my friend!!
