I know first hand that as we get older our bodies change. Babies, hormones, life circumstances, health issues, etc., etc., change the image we see in the mirror. When I first started photographing “Women over 40”, I had no idea how many of us criticize ourselves at EVERY age. I’m just as guilty. We pick apart everything about ourselves which is so ironic because most of those things are exactly what our partners find attractive about us. What strangers find attractive about us….and what our friends find attractive about us. I wanted to be able to show people women what others see…and what I’ve learned in the process is that all of you were so much more beautiful on the inside than I could have imagined! You are gorgeous and you are worthy of being photographed. It’s not vain, it’s not self indulgent….you are worthy and I get the job of showing you what everyone else sees!
She told me that she loves that I show women of all shapes and sizes on my Instagram and website. It made me stop and think for a minute because she’s right….but it’s because I actually photograph all sizes and ages of women. I know sometimes we can get caught up in looking at peoples websites or social medias and only seeing smaller sizes represented but the truth it, all the women I have the honor of working with- are real women. I don’t hire models, I don’t only cast “small sizes”, I enjoy showing women how gorgeous they are exactly the size they are! It’s been SO fun capturing everyone’s personality!
So put on those leather pants, wear that cocktail dress, bring your plaid shirt and jeans….just get in front of the damn camera!
