Let’s talk about the magic of holiday photos, the kind that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a Hallmark movie—complete with snowflakes, charming towns, and, yes, two adorable dogs.
Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing my friend and fellow photographer Holly. You know the saying, “Photographers never have photos of themselves?” Well, it’s true. We’re always behind the lens, capturing everyone else’s memories, but rarely getting to be part of them ourselves. Cue Ligonier, Pennsylvania—the quintessential small town that practically screams holiday magic. If you’ve never been, imagine twinkling lights, charming storefronts, and just enough snow to make you feel like you’re in a snow globe. It’s the kind of place where the streets look like they were designed for cozy strolls with a hot cocoa in hand. Think “romantic narrative, nostalgia and warmth, coupled with holiday traditions and family connections” HAHA. See perfect Hallmark Movie Plot!
Photographing in Ligonier was particularly meaningful Holly and her husband because this little town holds a special place in their hearts. Even with the challenges of low light (hello, off-camera flash!) and wrangling two excited pups, we managed to create some holiday charm. Think cozy, heartfelt, and just a little bit whimsical. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier to give back to someone who’s been such a big part of my year. Being on the other side of the camera is a gift that’s long overdue for so many photographers, and I’m thrilled I could make it happen for her.
