Personal-Everyday Chaos

penny for your thoughts | jen mcken, photographer

You know that phrase, “I’ll give you a penny for your thoughts”……well, mine would cost a lot because if you could screw the top of my head off and look inside, it would be going a mile a minute. It works kind of like this: i like cake. do you like cake? What time are we leaving? Did you drop that off for me? Hey, look, they got a new car. When did they finished that? Well….do you like cake?!  SQUIRRELLLLL….SEE what I mean…..

This week we managed to get a lot of yard work done. Although, we still have a TON more to finish, I learned a few things in the process.
#1 yard work sucks-hire a professional!
#2 Greg has a lot of patience: especially when I tell him “no that’s now where I wanted you to dig that hole, I wanted it over there”,
#3 Greg can really “dig it”
#4 when his machine breaks down and it won’t start, standing behind him and doing your old high school cheers or telling him to “just be nice to it” doesn’t make him happy-just saying…and
#5 since we own a dump truck (yes we own a dump truck..haha!), Greg gets to take me on “hot lunch dates” and when we go to leave and have to back up out of our spot, I sing ” back it up…back it up…back.it.up!”
#6 yard works sucks-hire a professional! LOL

Hey look, it’s me in a dump truck…and the front of my studio!

Some landscaping in front of the house. That little building behind the dump druck  is my studio 🙂

Lately, I’ve been in what I like to call “my yearly creative funk”. I’ve been getting them more often and I think that it’s definitely the weather, but it makes me do weird things…..like book vacations! So last week we decided, hey let’s go on a vacation. We leave on the 13th….it’s how we roll! Punta Cana here we come……I NEEEEEEED me some vitamin D and my creativity back! Mmmmm, kay!

These are from my last “creative funk” when we booked a trip to Puerto Rico

Occasionally, my Grandma will find a “really good deal” on something and purchase more than one. Sure enough it won’t be long that we find this “really good deal” sitting on the seat of our car, on the door step or in the mailbox. We know that when we find something in either of those places, that Grandma has been by-it’s like Santa comes all year round except instead of getting Christmas-y things, we get things like earrings, shampoo, shoes or a shirt for Mallory, etc.. This time around, she dropped off sunscreen…..yes sunscreen SPF 50 to be exact. I found it on the seat of my car so I’m thinking she would have had to have dropped it off around lunch time when Greg and took his car out for a spin.  There is no rhyme or reason to the treasures we receive, except that they were “really good deals”.  It’s just one of those things that I’ll never forget!

Tee he he…..god, I love her!

PS: we’re taking the sunscreen with us to Punta Cana! 🙂
