what’s in my bag | indiana county, pa photographer | tips + tricks

Valentine’s Day, Christmas and my Birthday (and every other gift giving holiday) came early this year!!!

If you follow me on Facebook, you’d know that Greg brought home a nice little (or not so little) surprise for me the other day….a 27″ IMAC!  PLUS I splurged and bought myself two new lenses and a new camera bag! I had slight buyers remorse but I kept reminding myself, it’s a business write off, it’s a business write off..tee he he!

In all seriousness, none of the stuff mentioned above is exactly “cheap” so I had this internal battle with myself on breaking down and buying the IMAC but I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money when we were forking out all the cash for the studio renovations. I go by the theory, “if it ain’t broke-don’t fix it”…. BUT Greg knows how much I sacrifice to see my dream of having a studio space happen that he went out and got it without me knowing. (he’s a good baby daddy) I finally feel (at least for the time being) that I’m happy with my lens collection, where my business is heading and HELLO,  I’m happy with my new computer (which will be quite a new transition from PC to MAC). Soon I’ll have a brand spankin new space to call my own to get more acquainted with the MAC world.

With all this speak of lenses, etc, I have been getting tons of questions lately on Formspring asking what is in my bag. So to kill 10 birds with one stone, I thought I’d just blog about it. Show you what’s in my (new Kelly Moore) bag and which lenses are my favorite! First of all, I’m a Canon Girl. It’s what I learned on and it’s what I’ve stuck with over the years. Nikon has some pretty amazing features as well but I’m faithful I guess, I’m sticking with Canon. I also buy ALL of my equipment from B&H. I love their customer service and they have been VERY easy to work with. With that said, below is a list of “What’s In My Bag”: If you click on the link it will take you to the page on B&H (or other page) where you can purchase the equipment. But I warn you, once you to go B&H give yourself a few hours because you will begin putting things in your “wish list” and you will never get off the site! Just sayin!

* Let me just ad, I did not go out and purchase these all at once (obviously) BUT these are the lenses I’ve collected over the past several years.

Let me start by saying I’ve enjoyed perusing your site. Your work is clean and classic. I find it reassuring the kit you have is almost identical to the one I just put together. I was concerned because I was thinking about going for a 1Dmk4 on top of the 5DmkII. I’m an Army Photog for three more months, then I strike out on my own. For the military I shoot on a pair of D200s. They’re starting to show their age but they’ve served me very well in the past. So long story short, seeing your kit and your work puts me at ease as a two-camera shooter transition to just one. (I bought everything at once because this past year in Afghanistan left me with a heavy wallet, thanks B and H!) Keep up he good work
