Operation Toof Fairy=success!

If you follow me on facebook, you’d know that Mallory’s tooth has been loose for some time now. Yesterday, while playing with our neighbor girl it fell out….er…got yanked out. She came running into the kitchen to show us the tiny tooth and her new gap. Greg and I looked at each other like, ohhhh crap, someones needs to run to the ATM. We NEVER carry cash-EVER and the one time we need it to do our “duty” as parents we are SOL.  We joked about leaving behind a check or possibly packs of gum (just like that one commercial) BUT we decided…that would make us really bad parents. HA!

I’ve never seen my child so eager to fall asleep except for Christmas Eve. Usually she sleeps with a light beside her bed and sometimes even requires the hall light to stay on until she falls sleep—-but not this time. THIS time, she went around and shut off all the lights…including the light I was using near my computer to work with so that she cold fall asleep quickly…..AND she tucked HERSELF into bed. She placed her tooth into the “first tooth” container and her picture she drew under her pillow and she was out like a light. THANK GAWD, it was one of those nights I wanted to go to bed early and I was praying that it wouldn’t take too long! Tee he he.

At some point during the night the tooth fairy sneaked in and did her exchange. She must have been out of dollar bills because she left lots of quarters and coins instead. She also must have found where we stash the paper because she left a note to Miss Mallory as well. It said:

Dear Mallory,

I am the Tooth Fairy, how do you do?
I’ve come to leave some money for you.

While you were sleeping and dreams were made,
I reached under your pillow and made a trade.

Here is some m oney for your tooth I took,
I had to be quick before someone could look.

I’m so fast that you can’t see,
So don’t try to take a picture of me!

Thank you for the tooth and keep brushing

Love,
Tooth Fairy

“O-M-G- Mommy, look what the tooth fairy brought me!!!” This morning at 6am, she ran into our room, bounced on the bed with her little container of coins. Who knew $3 worth of quarters could make someone so darn happy. AND then…..it was on with the questions…(you KNOWWW how the kids love to ask questions)

1. Where does the tooth fairy live?
2. What does she look like?
3. Does she ever run out of money?
4. Do you think she can get a speeding ticket?
5. How big is she?
6. What does she do with all those (and I quote) “Teeth’s”
7. How long will it take to grow my tooth back?
8. Does the tooth fairy have teeth?
9. Who gives the tooth fairy money when she looses her teeth?
10. Do you get more money if you leave more than one tooth?

…………I love motherhood!

PS: My idea to dress Greg up in the pink leotards with fairy wings…..didn’t go over so well.

Really enjoyed first tooth fairy experience with pictures. I always told our kids you don’t get as much money for a tooth if it has decay on it.

  • Cindy Barbi says:

Mallory told us all about it at school and it was the story she wrote at writing time!!

    Hi,

I love this! What a great memory you have given her!

Our son Max has a running correspondence with “Isabella Tooth Fairy” (one of the many questions Max has asked her). He used to dictate letters to her that we wrote. Now he writes his own. She writes back to him in tiny notes (size 8 font, funny and pretty fonts) answering his questions. Each one is different. All are about 2 x 4 inches big, faerie size. He leaves itsy bitsy snacks for her which she nibbles and shares with her friends. We have saved all the notes back and forth in his scrapbooks. It is a bit of work, but we feel that you need magic for as long as you can.
