Small Town Life…. 🙂
It’s a homecoming tradition in small town USA-aka Blairsville, Blairsburg, The Ville: The Homecoming Parade. Dun Dun Duuuuun!!
Everyone lines the streets watching the cheerleaders, football players, majorettes, the band, of course the homecoming court AND….there’s always a fire truck in there somewhere- go down the street singing their songs, honking their horns and waiving like there is no tomorrow. I rode in that VERY same parade ten years ago….yes T.E.N. years ago. I rode as a class officer, as a cheerleader and on our class float (which I still believe SHOULD have one first place-just sayin) Here I am TEN years later standing there watching Miss Mallory ride in the back of a truck filled with hay cheering with the mini cheerleaders.
I watched the kids chase after candy being thrown from parade participants and I smiled. The town I COULDN’T wait to get out of…..is the same town I came back to. It’s home-what can I say! GOOOO Bobcats! 🙂
Below are just a few snap shots of the parade. I tried to be “mom” and not “photographer” today, but I couldn’t help it.
So here ya go ….
Thank you “big cheerleaders” (high school cheerleaders) for allowing the itty bitty’s to cheer with you. It may not have seemed like it at the time, but they enjoyed themselves immensely. Mallory can’t stop talking about it!! She’s been yelling , “Let’s get FIRRRRRRRED up” the. whole. way. home!!!!. Thanks for that…..thanks!! <insert sarcasm> HAHA!!
