October is to photographers what April is to all of you accountants…….in.sane.ly. busy! Everyone wants their family photos in the pretty fall leaves and we had such gorgeous weather this past month (minus the past few days with Hurricane Sandy) that I took full advantage of it and shot a TON of sessions. November is looking just as busy so I thought I’d share what October has been like for me….you know, outside of the business. I’m proud to say that I’ve got my work flow down pat and I’m able to stop working at the same time every day and actually do this little thing called “spending time” with my family. We’ve carved pumpkins, went on hay rides, decorated our house, played dress up and went trick or treating. 🙂 I’m happy to have found the work/life balance while being self employed. 🙂
Here’s a peek into how my family spent our October……….
We didn’t go “all-out” this year in terms of decorating, but we did put up a few things. It’s Greg’s favorite holiday-so needless to say we have quite a stash of Halloween Decorations…..but this year we chose to put up a few around the house….hopefully we have time to take these down before Christmas! haha!

One of my favorite past times during Halloween was stretching the spider web’s all over the trees and bushes. 🙂

Gracie got to meet Freddy. When you push his stomach, he says, “Do you wanna play Skin the Cat?”…….she goes running.every.single.time.

We made our annual trip out to Reegers Farm in Indiana County. We go every year to take a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins.

So we drove the whole way there and managed to catch the very last hay ride of the day. We get to the pumpkin patch and Mallory picks out the smallest pumpkin she could find….haha!

It was such a beautiful day….blue skies….and sweatshirt weather…my favorite!

and……we carved pumpkins!

….but we aren’t experts…..don’t judge!! haha! Our pumpkins need some orthodontic work from Dentist New York!!

We played dress up! She was so excited about her Halloween Costume that she picked out all by herself. She wanted to take a few pictures….she didn’t have to ask me twice! 🙂 Incase you couldn’t tell….she was going for the 80’s Punk Rock look….although it’s not all that different than how she dresses every other day. She’s my little Punky Brewster!

Have I mentioned……she’s NOT shy! haha!

We played in the leaves….on the last day we could play in the leaves before Hurricane Sandy came in and blew the rest of them off the trees and made them wet and yucky!

This picture was taken promptly 5 seconds before she spotted a spider and high tailed it off the swing. She HATES bugs!

Despite the crappy weather, Greg and I gave up an entire day of shopping at the King of Prussia to rush home, from the Philly area after shooting a wedding, to take Miss Mallory trick or treating. The weather wasn’t the best….but the kiddo’s had fun……and Mommy got to steal some chocolate! 🙂

I have this same picture every year since Mallory has been able to walk-it’s of her running up the steps to Grandma and Pappy’s house to get her treat….and each time Grandma waves from the door! 🙂

The rain made it just a bit chilly…..but Mallory insisted on walking door to door.

Then we caught up with our cousins……… 🙂

I hope your October was just as fun…….. and that you took LOTS of pictures and spent lots of time with your family! Happy Halloween Everyone!!! Parent’s don’t forget to collect your share of the “parent candy tax”……I already got mine. Snickers, Kid Kat’s and Receese’s! Tee he he!
