I’m breaking all the blogging rules. They say you’re supposed to only highlight 5-6 of the best images from each wedding to post on your blog….but I’ve always been a rule breaker! As a matter of fact, not only is this blog post going to have A LOT more than 5-6 images but there are so many favorites from this wedding, that I’m breaking it into two wedding blog posts. So stay tuned for another one later in the week. You can also keep up with sneak peeks I release over on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jenmckenphotography
Mara and Paul chose to get married at a relatively new wedding in Indiana, PA called Stutzman’s Barn. It’s absolutely gorgeous and was previously a cabbage farm back in the day. They’ve done an amazing job bringing it up to it’s modern wonder and I look forward to shooting here again! There were SO MANY other photo ops there to have used but with limited time on a wedding day, we weren’t able to take advantage of EVERYTHING. So someone hire me again so I can go back! AHAHA!
Home Farm Barn Wedding Venue, Indiana PA
Cool story: these were the same shoes her Mom wore the day she married her Dad! <insert warm and fuzzies>
There’s a room downstairs for wedding parties to get ready in. It’s charming and has completely been renovated. And the lighting is amazing!
Paul: I love watching cartoons, I have way too many Hawaiian shirts, I collect koozies.
Mara: I am oddly fascinated with weather and the science behind it, I have a collection of various sugar skull themed items, I make a list for almost everything
I love these detail shots because in 50 years when they are looking thru these images with their Grandchildren, they will comment on how different watches look! haha!
Paul about Mara: caring, adorable, selfless
Mara about Paul: thoughtful, fun, creative
We went to our first Penguins game together, it was the first round Standley Cup Playoff game. We were sitting in the upper deck. The game was close and we had just scored. Everyone was going crazy, jumping and cheering. The next thing I (Mara) knew, I was flying through the air about three rows in front of where we were sitting. I soon realized a man about 200 lbs heavier than me had gotten a little too excited (drunk) for the goal and fell out of his own seat into me and that’s when I went flying. Paul tried to react, but it all happened too fast. He helped me back up, along with the man who flew into me. The Penguins went on to win that game, and Paul and I spent about 10 minutes after everyone left searching for a missing earring that had fallen out from the “incident”. I will never forget my first Penguins game!
I love this sweet moment of Mara with her sister! I also love that her Mom is laughing in the background and how the light falls on her face.
Mara’s Grandpa loved marigolds. Look closely at her bouquet! <3
Paul: comfort food, humor, nature
Mara: cell phone, lists, tidiness
One last final look for Mom!
On our way to the “first look”…..I mean look at the first look location! <3 <3
We are opposites in a lot of ways which keeps us grounded. We help each other grow as individuals and are each others number one support!
I think he approves! I also have to give Greg credit for these two shots! He learned from the best! HAHA!
We loved to watch scary movies, and we love to try new restaurants and food! We also love to watch football and hockey!
Mara: Is watching reality tv shows a hobby? and shopping
Paul: I like to play soccer, and make things
You can give me a room full of windows ANYDAY! The cool thing is, even if it rains at this venue, there are so many photo ops inside!
Paul: I noticed her big beautiful blue eyes
Mara: I noticed how much taller he was than me
I am in love with this above image.
They have a swing guys….. a swing!!!! How fun!
And that light!! <3
We snuck in a few of the wedding party before guests arrived…then it was off to the “first look” with Dad.
Cue the waterworks.
One of my favorite parts of the day…when Dad see’s his little girl dressed in white!
Next up…..the ceremony and reception. Stay tuned for that one!
