Pittsburgh, PA | Hotel Monaco Wedding
We sat in Starbucks in Murrysville, Pennsylvania talking about wedding timelines. It was only a few months away so we got to know each other AND planned the entire wedding day all within one meeting! Planning from out of state can sometimes be very stressful….throw in the fact that you never planned a wedding before and it can become 10x’s more stressful. But this wasn’t my first rodeo and together we went over all the little details-things that they hadn’t even thought about logistically. ESPECIALLY when planning a city wedding such as down town Pittsburgh at Hotel Monaco. We needed to have our “shit” together so that everything ran smoothly.
I’m BIG on timelines….I love to be organized and know that everything will flow and that we can fit everything that is important into the day. So much so that I’ve created a page dedicated to timelines on my website. If you’re a bride/future bride and you want to get some tips on planning yours prior to our meeting, be sure to check it out on the link below!
You can check out some of Brittany + Jamie’s wedding below. It was so elegant, classic, and fun.
We first met in Scottsdale, Arizona, in June 2012 at a national sales and marketing meeting for Sanofi Pasteur (the company for which we both worked).
I was making my way into a large meeting room, completely new to the business and likely appearing a bit lost, and Jamie just so happened to be standing at the entrance to the room, seemingly there to greet me and help me find my way. My heart skipped a few beats as soon as I saw him. Our mutual physical attraction to each other was quite clear; however, within no time at all our connection became so much more. We quickly became close friends who realized we shared the same values and felt as if we had known each other for years.
We had been talking about becoming engaged for some time. I was pretty certain the proposal would take place at some point in 2017, and I imagined it would happen when we were with my family in Pittsburgh over Thanksgiving or Christmas. Jamie surprised me by proposing halfway in between the two holidays – in Washington, DC, instead of Pittsburgh. My sisters were visiting us for the weekend, and we had made plans to head into the city to walk around the Christmas markets and see the National Christmas Tree. Jamie proposed at the Tree right at dusk, and my sisters were there to capture photos. Shortly after, my sisters coordinated plans for us to have a champagne toast together at a nearby restaurant, and my mom jumped out from out of nowhere and surprised me yet again. Jamie then continued the surprise by me by taking me and my family to see the Washington Ballet perform The Nutcracker. (My mom is a ballet teacher, and I had grown up dancing and absolutely LOVED ballet, so this was particularly special for me). We then had an absolutely amazing dinner at Zaytinya, which is one of our favorite restaurants in DC. The celebration continued for the remainder of the weekend.
We spend A LOT of time together! We love running and biking (Jamie has been a huge motivator for me, always encouraging me and helping me to exceed my own expectations), hiking the Billy Goat trail at Great Falls, cooking dinner together (again, Jamie is my biggest champion), trying new restaurants, enjoying cocktails and specialty beers, sharing a nice bottle (or two) of wine together during dinner and spending time together.
Jamie was the first to say “I love you.” It was Memorial Day Weekend of 2013. I had been living in France at the time and had traveled back to Pittsburgh for a few days for a friend’s bridal shower and bachelorette party. I spent a few extra days with Jamie at his place in Easton, PA (where he had been living at the time), and we were lying in bed about to fall asleep when he first said the three special words.
This group!! <3 <3
Each other, of course!
Jamie: Beer, WhatsApp chat group (with 3 of his guy friends), paper towels, mouthwash

The views from the terrace at Hotel Monaco are stunning!
Let’s talk about how gorgeous the ballroom is in Hotel Monaco! Blacks, whites and greens…..so so so elegant.
Their grand entrance…..into their first dance. Wait for it……wait for it…..
BOOM! She grew up as a dancer so she taught Jamie a few moves that they executed perfectly ….and the crowd LOVED IT!!
I love this vantage point so that you can see everyone’s faces….thanks to my second photographer Greg! And I’m slightly obsessed with the floors.
Everything about them…the venue…the decor…..so so so elegant. I mean her hair was still perfect at the end of the night! <3
