I looooove photographing elopements!!

One of the distinguishing features of an elopement is that it often takes place on a weekday rather than the more common weekend wedding dates. Choosing a weekday for an elopement has several advantages. First and foremost, weekdays tend to be less busy, making it easier to secure venues and other services. Additionally, vendors such as photographers are often more readily available on weekdays, allowing for more flexibility in scheduling.

As a result, elopements generally require less photography coverage compared to traditional weddings. Since the guest list is typically limited to a few close friends or immediate family members, the ceremony and celebration are more condensed. This means that the photography timeline can be shorter, capturing the key moments of the elopement ceremony, intimate portraits of the couple, and some candid shots during the celebration.

Elopements offer a unique opportunity to focus on the couple and their love story without the distractions and formalities often associated with larger weddings. They can take place in a variety of settings, such as a picturesque outdoor location, a city hall, or even a destination of the couple’s choosing. For Megan and Joe, had the sweetest ceremony surrounded by close family at the Allegheny County Courthouse. They followed up with a dinner at The Foundry in the North Shore on the most gorgeous May day! We even squeezed in a few very special photo spots!

Fun facts about Megan + Joe’s big day:

  1. I photographed Megan’s senior photos 14 years ago!
  2. We went back to the very spot they met for portraits on their wedding day! AND…we also got a few shots in front of PNC park where they had their first date! I mean how cool will it be all those years from now when they’re showing their Grandchildren that *THIS* is the very spot it all started! The sentimental part of me LOVES this so much!
  3. They had photos taken with Macaroni a.k.a. “Mac” their dog before their reception. He stole the show!
