Hey girl hey!!
I’m about to be real with you. I’m going to say this like I would to one of my best friends…
I want you to know, it’s okay to want to feel like your best self before booking a photoshoot with me.
BUT, I feel like I have to tell you this…there’s one thing that’s often missing- sometimes we like to lean on wanting to lose a few pounds and changing our bodies in order to feel “worthy” of being in front of the camera. Here’s what I’ve often found, those goals of “feeling perfect” are not rooted in changing the way they FEEL about yourself -instead, those kind of goals of “feeling perfect” are rooted in superficiality. Boom I said it! As a women, I can speak for ALL of us….we’ve all been there (myself included). We think changing THIS or THAT about ourselves will magically make us love ourselves more. But deep down, we both know this is not true.
If you have ever caught yourself sayin “I want to do XYZ before booking a shoot” or if any of your reasons have anything to do with weight-loss or changing your appearance, in any way…. I have a challenge for you!
What if you said instead: “I want to speak more kindly to myself. I want to learn to like who I see in the mirror first” or ” I want to unpack all the negative feelings I think about myself and begin to unlearn them”.
I need you to understand that if we are not actively trying to understand WHY we feel that we need to fit into this perfection box that we created in our minds in order to feel WORTHY of being photographed, it’s probably not going to matter how much you change about your appearance because there is a difference between wanting to make sure you’re emotionally and mentally ready to book a session for yourself versus telling yourself you have to change who you are to enjoy the experience.
Bestie, let’s hang out for a few hours, let’s create some gorgeous images of you. Because you’re worth it exactly how you are!
