Photos: Little Time Capsules
Ah, fall – that golden time of year when every leaf that touches the ground seems to hold a memory. For me, as a photographer, it’s more than just a season; it’s an opportunity to capture families in the heart of nature’s most vibrant display. Maybe it’s the color—warm tones of orange, red, and gold—or that families seem to relax a little more, and kids, especially, come alive with the chance to run wild through leaves. As cheesy as it sounds, watching leaves fall feels is a bit like watching time slip by. The trees let go of what they no longer need, preparing for a quieter season. There’s something beautiful about embracing change, just as family photos celebrate the changes and growth we see in the ones we love. It’s the perfect reminder to pause and savor these moments before they’re swept up in the breeze because we know that next year our families will be different. Children grow taller, their personalities blossom, and they shift from one phase to the next. One year, a little one might be learning to walk, and before we know it, they’re dashing off to join their friends. Teenagers transition from quiet smiles to expressing themselves more fully, their interests and style evolving with each season…and the photos are like these little time capsules.
Next year’s photos will look a lot different…beautiful but different- just like the foliage.
