Family, Forests, and Fun: A Dreamy Hollidaysburg Session
Last week, I had the absolute joy of driving out to one of my favorite hidden gems in Pennsylvania: a stunning log cabin nestled in the heart of Hollidaysburg. You might remember this property if you’ve followed my work for a while, it’s the same dreamy spot where I photographed a wedding back in 2020. Yep, same family, same location… but somehow it keeps getting more magical every time I go back.
And let me tell you, this family? Just as warm, welcoming, and hilarious as I remembered. If you’ve ever wanted a masterclass on how to make family photos feel effortless and fun, they’re it.
Their property is what Pinterest dreams are made of: two ponds, tall trees, wildflowers swaying in the breeze, and a log cabin straight out of a Hallmark movie. Add in some epic Pennsylvania summer sun (and I mean bright) and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous but tricky lighting situation. So yes, I had to be super intentional with where and how I shot — chasing shade, bouncing light, and making the harsh midday sun work for us instead of against us.
This wasn’t just a one-and-done shoot either. After our family session wrapped, I stayed for an engagement shoot with Alyssa and Trevor, also on this amazing property , which I’ll be sharing in an upcoming post. Spoiler alert: it was STUNNING.
Even more exciting? I get to return for round three with this crew in 2026 when I photograph Alyssa and Trevor’s wedding right back on the family’s land. When I say I’m counting down the days, I’m not kidding. This is one of those families that makes my job not only easy, but fun. Like laugh-all-day, don’t-want-to-leave, “can I be part of the family?” kind of fun.
So here’s to returning clients, woodsy wonderlands, and photos that feel like home.
If you’re dreaming of a family session that feels relaxed, natural, and meaningful , whether it’s on your own land or somewhere sentimental , I’d love to help you tell your story.
