Military Tradition Meets Penn State Pride
There are some weddings that just feel different and this was one of them.
You know the kind, FULL of laughter and those little sentimental touches that tell you these two didn’t just plan a wedding… they crafted a memory.
Julianne and Luke’s day was exactly that.
Before we even made it to the aisle, we met over margaritas and appetizers to “talk wedding timelines,” but let’s be honest, it turned into three hours of laughing like old friends who just happened to meet that day. By the time I left, I was already in love with their energy.
She Hand Wrote Personal Notes
Julianne has one of those hearts that’s both wildly fun and deeply thoughtful. She hand wrote personal notes to every single guest at their reception… unique, handwritten messages waiting at each place setting beside the dinner menu. Every time someone found theirs, you could see the ripple of emotion move across the room.
He Brought the Swords
Luke’s military background brought tradition and pride to their day in the most epic way. Their military sword exit was cinematic, full uniforms, crisp movements, and pure joy. As if that wasn’t cool enough, a live painter set up during the reception to capture that very moment on canvas as guests watched. (How’s that for wedding art?)
Oh, and did I mention the Nittany Lion ice sculpture? Because yes, their Penn State roots ran deep, right down to the signature drinks named after their alma mater.
The Little Details That Told Their Story
There’s something about couples like Julianne and Luke that make you want to notice the small things.
Like how her mom, sister, and aunt all wore matching bracelets, or how she had Luke’s uniform name patch stitched inside her wedding dress. Like how the groomsmen flashed American flag socks just before the ceremony, laughing in a way that reminded me that joy is contagious when it’s real.
And then there was the sunset. Oh, that sunset.
The kind of golden light you dream about as a photographer. It wrapped around them like it had been waiting all day for its moment. It was giving …..Italian countryside.
A Love Built on Distance and Trust
Their story started years ago, a chance meeting thanks to their Dads, both State Troopers. From there came long-distance years, cross-country moves, and a shared love for Penn State, the beach, and doing life on their own terms They’re proof that distance doesn’t weaken love , it refines it.
When Luke proposed, it happened at the top of Mount Nittany overlooking Beaver Stadium , and true to Julianne’s humor, her first response wasn’t “yes”… it was “thank you.” (Honestly, iconic.)
The Kind of Day You Don’t Forget
Their wedding day was filled with every kind of beauty , the emotional, the funny, the traditional, the unexpected. But my favorite part wasn’t the swords, the sunset, and the cookie table-that thing was pretty epic! It was how the day felt.
It felt like home.
It felt like family.
It felt like two people who have spent years cheering each other on finally standing still, surrounded by every person who loves them most.
And if I had to sum it up in one sentence?
It was the kind of day that reminds me exactly why I do what I do.
