Sarah & Frank Donato……..and George!!

**WARNING** This blog may not make sense and it may be all over the place today, but I promise you it’s due to the amount of laughing —-I’m off my rocker today folks!

You know, I say this ALLL the time, but I have been SO very fortunate to have attracted the “Perfect” clients throughout the years. I mean, they laugh at my jokes, they cooperate with EVERYTHING I tell them to do, they aren’t afraid to make funny faces….and they DANCE!!  I had a client meeting with Sarah and Frank  during the planning of their wedding to find out if we were a good match for each other…and to have some pie! (tee he he) On most weddings I cover, I often end up spending more time with the Bride than the Groom does on their wedding day. I’m with her when she’s getting ready, during the ceremony, I have the camera shoved in their faces during the portrait session and then I usually go “all ninja” during the reception trying to cover everything thats going on…..so if the photographer doesn’t “click” with the Bride and Groom’s personalities, it’s a train wreck waiting to happen. Luckily for me, Frank and Sarah felt they could put up with me and choose me to photograph their wedding. SCORE!!

There were soooo many reasons, I loved these guys! The first….GEORGE, the Lawn Gnome! Yes you heard that right. Sarah got him as a gift her Sr. Year of high school and he often travels with them and they take his picture. So to honor the long tradition, they brought George along during the portrait session-he actually rode in the back of the golf cart when we went to the Windber Country Club. On a side note, THANK YOU to Lori who helped us navigate  and came out with us on the course, we appreciated your time and your kindness during the whole production! 🙂 That was sight to see, the entire wedding party cruising along in a total of 8 golf carts  🙂

At the reception Sarah had a little surprise waiting for Frank. It was the cutest cake EVER! Of course they had a traditional cake (made by the Groom’s Grandma which was GORGEOUS) but this one was also make by a family member. I’m told (correct me if I am wrong) Frank has a fascination with The Beastie Boys, so she had a record cake made. I especially LOVED the Macaroni and Cheese  for the song “Get It Together”.

Fast forward to the reception. There were so many things I loved…not to mention that the videographer and the DJ were pretty awesome, but I loved how they got everyone out on the floor. Instead of doing a traditional wedding party dance where everyone dances to a slow song with their partner, they create a circle with the entire wedding party and did a fun, upbeat song and they all took turns dancing in the middle. It immediately got the crowd going and I don’t think they had an empty dance floor for the rest of the night.

Wedding Tip Alert:  When sending out the invitations-on the response card that gets mailed back to you, ask a simple question. “What song will get you on the dance floor?” I thought that was soo clever and I believe it had a big reason to why the dance floor stayed hopping all night!

Enough blabbering….Sarah and Frank, I’m soooo happy you chose to work with me and I’ll venture to say that Frank, you’re the cheese and Sarah’s the Maracroni???!  I hope you have the best time in Jamaica!! Enjoy your sneak peek while I’m working on the rest 🙂

Your lighting is totally yummy in these shots – were you shooting high ISO or drag-the-shutter?

There’s a mix of both actually. I “experiment” throughout the night. There are some with high ISO and others I drug the shutter! 🙂

Jen, you are by far the best photographer I have ever seen or met…you were so much fun at Sarah & Franks wedding and I would love to meet with you to take some pictures the nexttime I am in town. The pics at the country club are gorgeous and my favorite is the two of them at the bridal table as he looks at her you just can see how much he loves her. And of course the one you took of my Gracie. Just beautiful, they are going to be soo happy to see all of these special memories!
