We practically had the place to our selves!! Liz wanted to go to Hartwood Acres for her wedding portraits and I was anxious to get there and find 100 other bridal parties…….but there was no one to be seen. I guess that’s one perk of having a Friday afternoon wedding! We didn’t have a tremendous amount time, so I used my super-hero photographer-ninja skills and managed to get a handful of photos before heading off to get these guys back for cocktail hour so they could mingle with their guests <—–a HUGE perk from doing a first look, I don’t have to hold you hostage while your guests get to enjoy the party!!
So how did the two of you meet?
“We met while I was waitressing at a local bar…. SUPER romantic, huh :). It was the night of their halloween party. I was dressed in costume (you know, a “classy” Frenchmaid!) and getting off work… I started chatting with Steve and his friend. It was during that conversation that I told Steve I LOVED his farmer costume! Unfortunately, he wasn’t dressed up for Halloween… and wasn’t dressed as a farmer. We still laugh about it to this day! From that meeting, and a push from some “nebby” friends, we finally went on our first date! yuneglings and wings… We’ve been together ever since.”- Liz
Tell us about the proposal.
“We bought our first home last November, so we spent the winter painting and doing things inside to make it feel like “ours.” When it got nice out we moved outside…. We spent most of our weekends this spring doing yard work to make the house look new again on the outside. Steve ripped out fencing, a garden, planted grass, took down this huge fountain… Basically took everything out so that we could to open the yard up. We also did a bunch of landscaping and hung twinkle lights on our back porch. So the night he proposed, we came home after swimming at his brothers house and it started raining. We made some margaritas and turned on the twinkle lights… It was perfect to sit there with the twinkle lights on, listening to the rain. All of a sudden we realized how many lighting bugs were out! It looked like the yard was sparkling. It got us talking about how it was the perfect summer night and how moments like that made ALL the hard work worth it. So all of a sudden Steve was like, I’ll be right back. He comes back a few minutes later and says, “I wasn’t planning on doing this tonight, but it seems I’ve been handed the perfect opportunity and I’m going to take it.” Then he got down on one knee. It was so the best moment.”- Liz
