It’s a small little walk -around Christmas Village tucked away in Westmoreland County. They are filled with old fashion traditions and treats. It’s nostalgic. It’s the atmosphere: It’s the sounds of sleigh-bells, Santa’s voice, the Christmas music through out the village. The smell of funnel cakes, hot chocolate and burnt marshmallows (the only way to eat them!) over the community camp fire. It’s the the laughter with the people you bring with you and holding hands with your loved one while watching the kids light up with delight when they speak to the talking tree…..it always gets me in the holiday spirit.
Did you know Overly’s is a non-profit organization operated by mainly volunteers and that they partner with Tickets For Kids Foundation, serving low income and at-risk families in Westmoreland, Fayette, Somerset and Allegheny Counties and providing approximately 1500 children yearly with a memorable holiday experience. Additionally, Overly’s provides a similar program to kids with life-threatening illnesses and terminally-ill patients and their families.
I’m honored to have been asked to create some promotional images for them. I have so many wonderful family memories from this place over all the years and I love that they give back to the community -specifically providing children with a holiday experience EVERY child should be entitled to. There was a time, I was one of those children and if it wasn’t for organizations like this, our Christmas may not have been as bright.
